Introducing The Words We've Heard
This is Marbree Sullivan, and I believe that everyone has a story to tell and wisdom to share. Right now, perhaps no generation has more collective insight than the Baby Boomers. So each week, I sit down with a member of this generation that has seen the world change.
Weekends, you would just take off and meet your friends early in the morning, show back up when the sun was setting. And, of course, there were no cell phones, so parents didn't have a clue where you were, but they weren't concerned.
Most of them have led familiar lives—building careers, raising families, maintaining friendships, navigating the ups and downs we all encounter. And as they look back, they remind us that often, the simple truths are the most important.
No matter how bad a day might be, the next day's another day. You just have to keep moving forward with your goal and your plan.
Some have advice to give.
Help each other as best you can with what you can.
Follow your passion, what you want to do, and if you follow it and it just doesn't seem to work out, it's okay, you can change.
And some lead by example.
I'd never seen it before, I just thought, it's an opportunity, I'm not going to let it pass me by. Which has been kind of an attitude that I've had my whole life.
Whether you come for the stories—and some of them are extraordinary—or the insight, join me as we capture their words.
New episodes every Thursday, available on all the usual podcast places. You know, Spotify, Apple Podcasts. If you're a boomer, your kids are probably busy, so ask your grandkids to help you find it.
